Privacy Policy Statement

The Herbjar respects your privacy and is committed to protecting personal information that you provide to us via our web site. This Privacy Statement applies solely to the web site located at www.herbjar.co.uk  and no other web sites or services.

1. Information Collected by The HerbJar

1.1. We may collect three categories of information on our website: IP address information, personal information and payment information.

1.2. Like many other websites, we may use a standard technology called a "cookie" to collect information about visitors’ browsing patterns. When you arrive at our website, we may record your IP address (the Internet address of your computer) to enable us to analyse user traffic and to improve the usefulness and effectiveness of our website. We do not link your IP address to any personal information that you send to us, unless you have registered with us and logged in using your profile.

1.3. We will only collect personal information (such as your name, email address and any other details that identify you as an individual) with your consent, when you make a purchase, create an account or submit a request for information.

1.4. We do not collect or store any creadit/debit card information on our system. All on-line payments to The Herbjar are handled by PayPal.

2. How We Use the Information Collected on Our Website

2.1. The Herbjar uses your personal information to process and deliver the orders you place with us, and to respond to enquiries that you posted on our website. We will ask for your consent before we use or share your information for any purpose other than the purpose for which you provided it. In order to let us know your preferences, we will require an action on your part, such as checking the appropriate option, to indicate your consent.

2.2. Notwithstanding the two exceptional circumstances outlined below, we do not pass your personal information to any third parties.

2.3. We may disclose your information in connection with a violation of our Terms and Conditions, if there is suspected fraudulent or illegal activity on the web site or to comply with a governmental or regulatory investigation.

2.4. If The Herbjar business is sold, merged or consolidated, then your information will be transferred to the acquirer or new entity.

3. Your Consent

3.1. By using our web site, you expressly agree to the collection and use of information as set out in this Privacy Policy Statement.

3.2. Access to certain pages of our website requires a log in and password. It is your responsibility to maintain the confidentiality of your log in name and password information.

3.3. It is your responsibility to provide accurate and up to date contact details when placing an order.  If you give us personal information about somebody else, such as a spouse or friend, you must have that person’s permission to do so.

4. Our Responsibilities

4.1. The Herbjar respects the privacy of its customers and business partners and is committed to complying with all UK laws relating to the protection of personal data.

4.2. We use Internet standard encryption technology to scramble your personal informartion when you transmit it to us. This process is known as SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). To check that you are in a secure area of our site, look at the top of your browser, at the right of the web address bar and you will see a closed padlock symbol.  You will also notice that the URL of the web pages requiring an SSL connection start with https instead of http.

5. The Use of Cookies and Web Beacons

5.1 Cookies are small files, consisting of parcels of text that uniquely identify each web client. Cookies do not carry any personally identifiable information, only the IP address of your computer. They are automatically downloaded from a Web server to the computer of someone browsing a website. Our website uses cookies for the purpose of authenticating, session tracking, and maintaining specific information about users, such as site preferences or the contents of their electronic shopping carts.

5.2. Some of our web pages may contain electronic images known as web beacons (or sometimes known as clear gifts or web bugs) that allow us to count users who have visited our web pages. These beacons do not carry any personally identifiable information. Together with cookies, web beacons may be used by The Herbjar to track visitors' browsing patterns and help us improve our website.

6.1. For your convenience we can store your personal information, not including payment information, if you choose to create an account with us. You may change your personal information at any time, by logging into our website using you account credentials.

6.2. You may request deactivation of your Herbjar account or deletion of any of your personal information held by us, by sending an email to herbjar@herbjar.co.uk.

7. Changes to Privacy Statement

7.1. We reserve the right to change this Privacy Statement at any time and at our sole discretion, without prior notice to you. If we change this Privacy Policy Statement, we will post the new Statement onto our web site, and it will become effective from the time of its posting to our web site. Please visit this Privacy Statement on a regular basis to make sure you have read the latest version.

7.2. Your continued use of our web site following the posting of changes to these terms means that you consent to those changes.
